Went in today to take a financial mathematics exams. I've spent about 200 hours over the past two months studying for this exam which is very math intensive and timed at 3 hours, the time crunch is another major part of my exam. Everything went smoothly up until about the 3rd question of my exam.
At that point an ACTUAL jack hammer in the room across from of us started pounding at something. I raised my hand and asked for them to stop the noise. They said they weren't able to, and when I asked if I was able to reschedule and what would happen to my exam score if I did they were unable to advise me further than calling customer service. This is a problem because my test does not allow breaks or cell phone use. I had to make the decision, without knowing what would happen with my score or whether, to leave my test then and call customer support. I was unsure whether I would be allowed to resit this exam.
I believe the way this center handled this was incredibly unprofessional. To begin with, their should not have been construction while exams were underway. Additionally, they should have told me the construction was creating a lot of excess noise in the test room and offered me an opportunity to reschedule before beginning my exam, both for my sake and the integrity of the exam. After that, they should have been able to provide me enough information during my exam to make an educated decision about whether to end my exam now or complete it, but they were unable to provide any information except for call customer service, which I couldn't do.
