All of the one-star reviews had me concerned, but I didn't have a bad experience here. The ladies at the front desks were nice and the procedure was fairly smooth. My only gripe would be their firearms policy which (a) makes the place a soft target by announcing to the world that firearms are prohibited and (b) causes firearms to be stored in vehicles parked outside (more likely to be stolen) instead of in the lockers inside (less likely to be stolen). My suggestion to whomever sets this policy is to keep your politics and your business separate. Take the sign down and maintain some strategic ambiguity as far as whether the ladies at the front desk might be armed. I can see why firearms would be covered by the general rule that "anything you could possible write notes on is prohibited," especially since it would be dangerous to unholster your weapon during the test to read your cheat sheet; however, there is no need for a special "no firearms" policy. Some people travel a long ways to take exams in crime-ridden Portland and it would be safest to be able to carry to the test center and then store your weapon in the locker along with the car keys, wallet, etc. Not being able to use those lockers creates unnecessary risk of theft which is far more dangerous to everyone. If you carry, plan ahead. They do check your pockets and check you with a metal-detecting wand, so nobody is carrying inside the testing room.
